Tier One Entertainment announced today their launch of the Philippine’s first gaming and esports talent agency. Tier One aims to revolutionize the esports landscape in Southeast Asia by developing gaming talents with a focus on professional teams, shoutcasters, and influencers in the region while also helping brands work with top esports influencers to reach the coveted gaming audience.
Founded by Alodia Gosiengfiao, who was recently nominated at the Influence Asia 2017 awards and Tryke Gutierrez, one of the first shoutcasters in the Philippines and the former Executive Director of Philippine Esports Organization, the team plans to usher in a new crop of talented individuals in the rising gaming and esports space.
Tier One Entertainment offers a different approach to developing gaming influencers, starting from the ground up by providing content support, workshops, and training. The consistent process will ensure success and quality when working with brands looking to tap into the esports market. In addition, Tier One Entertainment plans to build a state of the art studio for its influencers to use which will feature high speed internet for streaming, as well as high end production and gaming equipment. The influencers lineup currently includes KuyaNic of WomboXcombo, Bianca Yao, TNC Pro Team, and Ashley Gosiengfiao, among others.
Southeast Asia is a relatively underserved but ripening region in the global esports industry. While the consumption rate of advertising in the region is lower when compared to Europe and North America, the audience base in the area has seen impressive growth over the years. Market research company Newzoo reported that in 2017, the number of esports enthusiasts in the region jumped to 12.5 million from 9.5 million in 2016, earning a growth rate of +26.5%. The region is expected to swell to 24.2 million enthusiasts in 2020. The total amount of esports viewers (including casual fans) in the region is expected to rise to 51.6 million in 2020.
In 2016, two high-profile esports events were staged in Manila. The successes of ESL ONE Manila and Valve’s Manila Major, as well as the wins of loca Dota 2 squad, TNC Pro Team, has made the Philippines the perfect location for such an agency in the region.
