PayMaya, one of the country’s leading digital financial services provider, and Uber launched today an exclusive promo for Uber riders who will use their PayMaya app or card in paying for their transactions. Dubbed the ‘First Four’ promo, this tie-up is part of the partnership between Uber and PayMaya.
Paymaya & Uber

From October 3 to December 3, 2016, first-time Uber users will get Php100 off on each of their first four rides that they will book using PayMaya and the promo code PAYMAYARIDE. The promo is open to new and existing PayMaya app and card users and is valid for uberX, uberBLACK, and uberPOOL trips in Metro Manila. To avail of the promo, PayMaya users just need to have at least Php300 in their account prior to booking their ride.

PayMaya is the only prepaid wallet in the Philippines -- and only one in the world outside India and China -- that is accepted on Uber. Previously, only those with credit cards could sign up with Uber. With PayMaya, commuters can now open, activate, and use their Uber account even without a credit card. All they need to do is download PayMaya from the Google Play Store or the App Store and activate an account with any mobile number. Users will then have an instant 16-digit virtual Visa card that can be used to open an Uber account and hail convenient, safe, and cashless Uber rides.

“Uber changed people's lives by providing an unparalleled commuting experience founded on safety, convenience, and reliability. PayMaya strives to make this convenience available to more Filipinos by giving them an accessible payment app that they can immediately use to hail Uber rides. We are excited to see more from this collaboration with Uber in the near future,” said Orlando Vea, President and CEO at Voyager Innovations and PayMaya Philippines.
“This partnership between PayMaya and Uber highlights how technology is enabling more Filipinos to have cashless transactions without necessarily owning a credit card. Riders can be assured that they are provided with the same value of safety, reliability, and convenience with PayMaya, as they have been with Uber,” said Laurence Cua, General Manager, Uber Philippines.

The benefits of going cashless with Uber and PayMaya
Cashless transactions make life easier for Uber riders and partner-drivers, helping both avoid delays in payment settlement immediately after the end of the trip. It also eliminates the security risk of cash handling. As part of PayMaya's security advantages, a text message of the transaction is automatically sent to the user's mobile number at the end of the ride.

The latest transaction history can also be viewed on the PayMaya app for easier expense tracking. Since PayMaya is reloadable, consumers have more control over their expenses.

The leading digital payments app in the Philippines today, PayMaya allows anyone to shop and pay online without a credit card. Consumers just need to download it from the Google Play or the App Store and register to get a PayMaya virtual Visa card that can immediately be used for digital transactions.

Aside from the mobile app, PayMaya users can also opt to have their own PayMaya physical prepaid card which can be used in brick-and-mortar stores worldwide that accept Visa.  A variant also comes with its own beep wallet, allowing users to ride the MRT, LRT, and other beep-powered transportation. Users who upgrade their account can use their PayMaya for peer-to-peer money transfers and ATM withdrawals.

Loading up a PayMaya account is also convenient as it can be topped up at any of the over 15,000 PayMaya reloading stations nationwide that include SM Malls Business Centers, Robinsons Department Stores, Bayad Centers, 7-Eleven stores with Cliqq Kiosks, TouchPay Kiosks, and Smart Padala Centers, on top of online banking via BDO.
