The JBL Charge 2+ is the third version of the JBL Charge series. This speaker series boasts it can charge a lot of juice into your portable devices with its large battery (which is the internal battery plus the USB power for the port). The JBL Charge 2+ is pretty small & portable to place it in a bag and is splash proof. It does not just act as a speaker and power bank; it also functions as a hands free speakerphone.
What’s inside the box?
The JBL Clip+ package contains the following:
Build & Design
The JBL Charge 2+ is available in a variety of bright colors. It is cylindrical in shape with a matte polycarbonate casing and metal grills. The speaker is also splash-proof, but it isn’t fully waterproof that you can submerge underwater as there isn’t any IPX rating / certification indicated in the box. There is a passive bass radiator on the both ends of the cylinder which pushes out low frequencies of sound.
There are 6 buttons located in the top of the speaker – Power, Bluetooth paring, Volume up, Volume down, Social Mode and Hands-free. To explain about the social mode, you can connect up to 3 Bluetooth devices on the speaker and each one of them can play a sound / music which are great when with family or friends with multiple devices. One thing to note of is that, once a device plays a new music, the current playing song will stop; it can only cater one on one streaming but connects 3 devices at a time which leaves the hassle of disconnecting & connecting. We just hope that it featured a wait listing on the social feature too as it will be more awesome! The other buttons are self-explanatory and just like in the other JBL speaker series.
The micro-USB (for charging the speaker) and full-sized USB port (for charging other devices) are located in the lower back along with the 3.5mm jack for wired connection.
Sound Quality
Just like any JBL speakers, it does boast a good sound quality. The vocals are clear, the mids is good and the lows are pleasant to hear. One thing for a weak point for this speaker is that the bass overpowers some songs that are played in it. While bass is good for most of modern / pop songs, some other of classics or other music genres are not much good to hear.
