“With convenience as one of foodpanda’s pillars, having PayMaya as our digital payments partner is a move towards optimizing the customer experience even further. Now, there is practically no barrier to ordering one’s favorite food online. We are glad to collaborate with a partner that equally believes in the importance of being at the forefront of digital innovation,” said foodpanda CoFounder and CEO Mauro Cocchieri.
“Previously, the only options for food delivery were either cashondelivery or online credit card payments. We are happy that foodpanda has chosen to work with us to open its doors to more users who wish to experience the digital life. The food delivery industry is an excellent market to further expand PayMaya’s already rapidly growing user base,” said Smart eMoney coChief Operating Office Paolo Azzola.
Consumers can download the PayMaya mobile app through Google Play or Apple App Store to immediately get their own virtual Visa for online payments and shopping. Upon registration, the mobile app generates a 16digit virtual Visa card that comes with its own CCV number. The PayMaya account can be loaded through Smart Money, BDO online banking or through over 15,000 reloading stations including 7Eleven convenience stores, SM Malls Business Centers, Robinsons Department Store Business Centers, Smart Padala Centers and Smart Stores.
Users who upgrade their account can also opt to have a personalized physical Visa card which can be used to shop in any store worldwide accepting Visa. The PayMaya mobile app and PayMaya Visa card are particularly meant to serve Filipinos who do not own a credit card or do not wish to go through the hassle of applying for one.
For those who have credit, debit, or other prepaid cards issued by Visa or MasterCard, they can also pay for their foodpanda orders upon delivery using PayMaya Swipe, an enterprise solution that comes with a small device that can transform any smartphone into a payment terminal. The foodpanda delivery team is now equipped with PayMaya Swipe.
For payments made via PayMaya Swipe, one can just simply swipe his or her card on the terminal provided by the foodpanda delivery rider and affix his or her esignature
on the screen for confirmation. Receipts will be issued via SMS or email.
Launched just this August by Smart eMoney, Inc., the digital financial services unit of PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), PayMaya offers both consumers and enterprises new digital payments solutions. (PR)
