MyPhone Rio was the clear winner for the phone of the year last 2014 which changed the world of the local budget smartphone scene. This 2015, the local giant is looking to replicate that success with the release of much hyped MyPhone Rio 2.

Today at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City, we were able to witness the launched of this much talked about new budget flagship from MyPhone. The new MyPhone Rio 2 is a thinner, faster and better looking version of the old king of smartphones under PHP 5K. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor, better battery capacity at 2800 mAh, and a much improved rear and front camera optics. It also sports a slimmer body that should be very good to hold and fit in your pocket.

Overall, given that specifications the MyPhone Rio 2 seems to be a very capable phone at this price range. It is 500 pesos more expensive than the old MyPhone Rio. Hopefully, we can review the this unit in the next few days to see how will it fare against the rest of the competition in the real world. Watch out for it! :)
