Brainwavz Beta V2 is my first real good sounding in-ear monitors (IEM). It deserves a "Flashback Friday" entry because it opened up my ears to the world of the best sounding IEMs. Prior to that, as long as a headset is not tunog lata, I'm already satisfied with it. I even used to call everything a headset before. LOL.
Since I had no idea back then what a good quality IEM would sounds like, I did a lot of research before I bought the Brainwavz Beta V2 at Egghead Audiohub. Then the rest was history...

Quick Recap of Brainwavz Beta V2
Meet my eye opener, brainwavz beta v2 |
Brainwavz Beta V2 has a half in-ear design. It means that it is semi-open and doesn't isolate that well. On a positive note, it gives the listeners a more open and airy sound stage.
Accessories and Comfort
Accessories and Comfort
I'm glad I was able to document this photos :) |
Aside from the IEM itself, the package also comes with 3 sizes of single flange silicons tips and a pair of Comply foam tips. That was my first time to try the very comfortable Comply ear tips. Comfort wise, I preferred the Comply tips than the other stock silicon tips.
Build Quality
For the price, the build quality is pretty acceptable. The housing is made out of plastic, thin OFC cables and 3.5mm gold-plated plug. Overall, the build is quite okay but it's tangle prone and should be taken care of properly.
Sound Quality
My first impression of its sound quality at that time was fantastic and breathtaking! (circa late 2011 to early 2012) As far as I can remember, when I tried it first I was blown away by the clarity of this set. When I hit the bassy parts of the song, it was amazingly delivered and got my blood pumped up! It rumbles deep and extended enough to mimic a sub-woofer type of effect. The sound stage was fantastic due to its semi-open design that gives listeners a spacious sounding effect. Even though it's a little sibilant, both highs and lows are pretty well extended - it is a pretty balanced set.
Note: All of my songs that time were rock and hiphop and at 320kbps only.
Specs
Fast forward 2014 when a lot of IEMs with better sound quality and built has been produced, Brainwavz Beta V2 will always have a special place in my heart. This IEM lead me to my current addiction. LOL. I've had total of 16 in-ear monitors since then and I'm sure I won't stop exploring more.
I am also amazed that the industry of audio products is really fast evolving which makes this journey more and more exciting!
