About the Event
From Alex Ragot's IG |
According to Peter So, head organizer, “This fencing tournament is aimed to provide ex-national team players and former UAAP varsity fencers, as well as hobbyists, an opportunity to not only play against their peers; but also to rekindle friendships and foster camaraderie. We are aiming to increase awareness and participation in fencing, as it is a sport in which the Filipino can definitely excel in.”
Here are few words from the founder of the Vicious Brainiac Fencing (VBF):
"Why fencing? Because it is fun. Fast! Furious! Action-packed! Because it is a rigorous physical workout. Fencing works up a good sweat, and helps develop agility and balance. Because it is a mental game. Fencing is nicknamed "Physical Chess" for a good reason, it helps develop grace under pressure and ability to think on one's feet. And because it is safe. Yes, SAFE. According to the August 2012 issue of Scientific American magazine, a comparison was made of injuries sustained in various Olympic sports. Popular sports with more injuries than fencing? Basketball, Soccer, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Volleyball, Tennis, Cycling, Table Tennis (!?) and Badminton!
Hope to see you Sunday! :D may free Kopiko candy and Gatorade!"
