Last Friday the Geeks visited Novo7Tech in Cubao for the hands on and demonstration of the new and highly regarded Meizu MX4 Pro. Meizu MX4 Pro is the latest smartphone of the said company that's the bigger brother of the powerful MX4.
The excellent MX4 Pro! |
The MX4 Pro is a stunning looking device!
Just like its brother the MX4 Pro is a stunningly crafted device! It retained that anti bend gate aircraft aluminum body, now has a stunning 5.5 inch Sharp 2K display at (2560 x 1536) and an mTouch finger print sensor.
Side by side with MX4 |
Compared to the MX4, the new MX4 pro has a slightly thicker frame and a slightly larger bezel. The circle home button of the MX4 is gone and was replaced to cater the rectanglish home button with finger print sensor as well. There are people that might like the slimmer and smaller frame of the MX4, but I'm sure that the MX4 Pro will be a delight to those who like big phone and have big hands. The good thing is, the MX4 Pro still feels good to hold even at its size.
The speakers, mic and micro usb port |
3.5 mm female jack, camera with sapphire glass protection and the power button |
Volume rocker (Checkout the thinness of this device!) |
The mTouch fingerprint sensor |
In general, the MX4 Pro is made out of premium and really durable materials. The rear camera glass protections has been upgraded into sapphire glass, has a body made out of aircraft grade aluminum and gorilla glass 3 screen. Overall, I'm suspecting this to be a very durable phone that should last for a good while even with a lot of abuse.
MX4 Pro Demonstration
A must watch video demonstration with Mr. Adrian Lim
(He discussed the MX4 Pro in general with its upside and downside)

Whether you like the name of "Retina Sound" or not, I'm sure that you'll love the type of hi fidelity audio the MX4 Pro can deliver. It is powered by the ES9018 DAC and OPA1612 that could only be found in high end DAP's that cost PHP 20K and beyond. The MX4 Pro is only one of the two to have this type of DAC together with the Vivo X5.
Based on my brief listen... The audio quality of the MX4 Pro is jaw dropping for a phone! This is the first phone that blew away the iPhone 6 and other flagships from my memory.
The MX4 Pro has a very balanced natural sounding sound signature that's very easy to listen with. The lows has that great attention to detail which can produce deep fast and tight accurate bass. The sub bass is also present especially when needed and brings out that whoooooomp that people love. The mids is probably the sweetest I've heard from a phone, wherein clarity of the vocals is amazing. The highs is there can really go high and has one of the best sparkles I've heard. The micro-details is outstanding as you can hear even the lightest tap of cymbals or even the opening of mouth from the artist. Overall, MX4 Pro is actually the first phone that I can't hear anything bad across the spectrum.
Technically, MX4 PRO is hands down better than any iPhone, Xperia, Lumia, Nexus and Galaxy flagships in terms of audio output quality from my memory and opinion. To my ears this is absolutely beats the iPod 5.5G and can go head to head with several dedicated music players like the FiiO X3, DX50 and PHP 35K Sony ZX1.
Note 1: In China they're even comparing this with the HM901 that cost over USD 800!

At the moment...
Let me start the HYPE! THE MX4 PRO IS CURRENTLY THE APPLE OF MY EARS! The MX4 Pro is an audiophile's dream phone as it produces breathtaking sound quality that can give your favorite headphones an amazing audio quality boost. As a smartphone, even if the MX4 Pro markets at PHP 30K (I hope they don't LOL) it is still a better buy than most flagships due to its top notch performance on almost all aspects especially the audio quality.
Oh by the way, the projected price of this device will be no more than PHP 20K and will be released in the first quarter of 2015! Hopefully we can do a full review of this phone soon and talk about the performance, benchmarks, speaker quality, call quality and others! So stay tune for it!
