The PocketBoom is a tiny Bluetooth speaker by Kitsound! Right now it is on a discounted price of PHP 990 from PHP 1490 which makes it more affordable. With that it is now one of the most affordable Bluetooth speakers with good sound and build quality in the land. It comes with different colors from their website like white, light blue, green, peach, black, pink, purple, and raspberry like red.

Build / Feel / Usage

The PocketBoom and it's closest rival The Ekoplay

Overall, the PocketBoom and the Ekoplay seems to have the same build quality with a matte rubbery feel. Though I would favor the PocketBoom a little bit because of the removable 3.5 mm cables and the separate usb port for charging that's not present with the latter. The mini speaker feels it can take a lot of abuse and should last for a while with proper care.

The PocketBoom is also very easy to use and understand. The design is simple where in you can locate the features that you wanted to activate. To open the device there's a very visible on and off switch then you can simply pair your device by turning its Bluetooth on. There's a call button too on top so that you can answer calls with using the speaker. :) However there's no volume next and previous buttons present with the speaker. (It's not a big issue though as long as you can control the music on your smartphone, pc or tablet)

The PocketBoom is a certified portable music buddy. There's also a present built-in microphone that anyone can use for calls. It is a very good feature when the person who's using the PocketBoom wanted to do a group call.

When it comes to battery life the PocketBoom is no slouch, it can last up to 3 hours while playing Bluetooth mode via moderate volume level, 2:45 hours when played on max volume and up to more than 5 hours on cables. So if you wanted more battery life just get yourself a 3.5 to 3.5 mm cables and plug it with your device.

Sound Quality

Kitsound Pocketboom has a "radiator" function at the bottom which I believe is the mastermind behind the warmer sound signature and good bass punch despite the miniature size of the speaker. The volume is loud enough to fill an entire room with good music, it's just a tad quieter compared to Ekoplay, but it has a slightly better bass extensions (though it's not a subwoofer type yet) and mildly fuller mids. The highs is there though the Ekoplay has a tad better extension. When it comes to soundstage the fight is pretty even. Overall the sound quality is about the same level and is respectable enough considering how small this type of speaker is.

Verdict

Another gem in the ultra portable Bluetooth speaker world. It is a decent sounding speaker that have a of good features, good bass punch and usability. It also have the call functions which I love on this type of speaker. Just add a male to male 3.5 mm jack to make this a more solid device. Overall, it's a good sounding speaker that you can just carry around your pocket and then BOOM BOOM POW, enjoy your music!
